Light and Dark
So, my friend has started a drumming blog, which makes me wonder if I should have just made this a photoblog. But I think it would bite me later when I was working more on my CS stuff. Right now though, I’m really into my photography class.
Not sure if I mentioned this before or not, but our first assignment is ‘Light and Dark,’ which is pretty wide open. We’ll need to have 8 finished images to present in a few weeks before we move on to our next project. I know more Photoshop than most of the people in the class, but I’ve still learned a few tricks from just one working class session. I think this theme we’ve been assigned is very appropriate to start with, because its also supposed to be a showcase of our technical knowledge (shutter speed, aperture, editing, &c.)
The balance of light and dark in an image (usually shown through ‘exposure’) is of integral importance to photography. So, by using the camera’s controls for shutter speed and aperture, we can adjust the exposure of the image, and therefore its sense of lightness or darkness. Editing can take this one step further and add more depth with contrast or other such adjustments.
All in all, this is a better assignment theme than I had anticipated. I’ll be posting potential critique-worthy shots soon.
